Time for Super Bowl LIV [54 for all you who don’t speak Roman]. And it pits a perennial Super-Bowl favorite, San Francisco 49ers, [winning 5 out of 5 big games is nothing to shake a red challenge flag at] against some very unusual suspects [hello Chiefs fans, it’s only been like 50 years since you’ve been here]. Throw in a couple of upstart newcomers with young QBs Jimmy G and Pat Mahomes and this could be high-scoring affair the likes of which we’ve never seen before in a Super Bowl.
Speaking of seeing the Super Bowl—it doesn’t matter if you’re into all the X’s and O’s, or you just like to watch the TV spots and halftime show—one thing is for sure, the Big Game is a big-time social event. So don’t sit alone at home, come on out and join the pigskin party!
Here are some of the best spots to cheer on your favorite team–or TV commercial–with old and new friends.
Hickory Tavern is ESPN’s only two-time finalist for Best Sports Bar in North America. If that weren’t enough reason right there to make it your home field for the Super Bowl then how about it’s got dozens and dozens of big screens to catch the Big Game. And the only thing there’s more of than TVs is food and drink choices!
Reilley’s, both on the South and North end, is an Hilton Head Island institution. With a sophisticated, warm ambiance, Reilley's feels like a true old-style pub! Enjoy sizzling steaks, fresh seafood, and pub fare while cheering on your favorite team. Plus, Street Meet is right next door, and also a great spot for food, fun and football. It’s also the unofficial home of the Cleveland Browns. And who knows maybe next year will finally be their year. At least all of our OHHIO fans out there can dream!
Boathouse and its next-door neighbor, Dockside, on Hilton Head Island’s North end have a wide variety of food, and plenty of TV’s to see every toe-tap catch and bone-crunching hit. And when the refs are boring us reviewing a call, you can take in the views of the beautiful Skullcreek. It’s a great place for families too because there’s lots of fun and games for the kids who might not be as into the game as mom and dad!
The Frosty Frog in Coligny plaza just off the beach is another great place to catch all the gridiron action. There’s plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, and you can count on the frozen drinks to be flowing just as much as you can count on Mahomes running all over the field before completing some never-seen-before pass! And don’t forget to try their 10oz Monster Burger, it’s big enough to satisfy an NFL offensive lineman!
